NORMAN — When Jim and Elizabeth Sullivan started planning a small Christmas concert with their family members, they had no idea it would grow to be a Norman holiday tradition.
That was 19 concerts ago. Like most families, their children and grandchildren are scattered around the country. Most make it back each year to participate in the concert that benefits Norman’s Women’s Resource Center.
Monday’s 7 p.m. concert will be the final notes for the Norman family.
“Everything has to end,” Elizabeth “Betty” Sullivan told Transcript reporter Katherine Parker.
It gets harder and harder to bring the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren back to Norman for a concert. We’ll miss the annual event and hope another family steps forward or another event takes it place.
The Sullivans will take a bow and pass the hat one final time for the WRC. It’s a family and community tradition we hate to see end, but we understand and will cherish the past performances and all the good their voices did for our community.
