NORMAN — Cleveland County’s growth — mostly in the county’s northwest quadrant — continues. At 3.9 percent growth we are one of the state’s four fastest growing counties, according to new U.S. Bureau of the Census estimates.

The Census Bureau estimates there are 265,638 residents of Cleveland County. Norman’s population is estimated to be 113,273, a 2.1 percent increase from 2010.

Central Oklahoma grew at a faster rate than the Tulsa area. The Oklahoma City metropolitan area counted 1,296,565 residents in July of 2012. The area grew by 1.6 percent since then and by 3.5 percent since July of 2010.

The state has almost 3.8 million residents.
