NORMAN — Quick. What’s Norman’s current population?
As of this week, city officials set the mark at 114,450. It seems like only months ago, we were passing 100,000 residents, including University of Oklahoma students.
Norman and Lawton were battling over which city was the state’s third and fourth largest, behind Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Norman was counting students and Lawton was counting soldiers.
Lawton counts about 100,000 residents now, with the soldiers.
Our city has 196 square miles and 835 miles of public streets, roads and highways.
We also have 855 vehicles, with 58 of them converted to compressed natural gas. Norman may be the only city in the state that operates a CNG gas station that is open to the public.
