NORMAN — We predict DogTV, a DirecTV network, will be a howling success when it starts Aug. 1. Americans are proud of their pets and will likely pony up the $4.99 monthly fee that will begin after a free, two-week trial run.
DogTV will feature videos with relaxing content such as pastoral scenes, dogs running and even some programming that dogs fear.
USA Today says the network will broadcast fireworks, thunderstorms and cars to gradually get dogs more accustomed to those noises.
The idea is guilt-ridden dog owners can turn on the television when they leave and hope their pets will tune in. No word yet on advertisements, but surely that can’t be far behind.
