NORMAN — It’s hard to believe that we would need to pass yet another law lengthening a prison sentence but Rep. Bobby Cleveland may be on target with this one. He wants to make sure that the penalty for unprovoked battery is increased to a minimum of 10 years in prison.
It comes as news reports show a new “game” of attacking random people (usually while someone is filming the episode) taking hold in some locations. The videos are often posted online.
We’ve not heard of it happening here but it usually takes a few months before such fads make it here. Mr. Cleveland said kids are attacking people in an attempt to knock them out.
The victims include men, women and the elderly. He wants to send a message that such violence is unacceptable.
