NORMAN — We’re used to sleet and snow hanging around for a few days, but this latest round is dragging on a lot longer than most anticipated or anybody wanted. Norman got a bit of a respite with Tuesday’s sunshine, but kids still missed three days of classes in local schools.
Fortunately, the University of Oklahoma only closed on Friday and students didn’t miss final examinations. In previous such weather episodes, some schools have called off finals and let students accept the grade they have or take them when they return.
We know city and county crews can’t clear all of the roads, but some of the city’s well-traveled thoroughfares have yet to see a plow or a sand truck. Some roads are melting and becoming more dangerous as they refreeze.
