Congratulations, schools

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Norman has a reputation as a community that values education. It shows in the university, our school test scores, graduation rates and by the number of educators wanting to work here.

A report by U.S. News and World Report reminds us of the caliber of both high schools. Norman High and Norman North were again included in the list of top 10 high schools in Oklahoma. The ranking places them in the top 5 percent of all high schools in Oklahoma.

The magazine’s rankings use data from Advanced Placement courses, AP exams, state test scores and other factors. Additionally, both schools have a number of students concurrently enrolled at the University of Oklahoma.

Besides academic achievements, the schools have nationally recognized fine arts, athletic and science programs. The students’ abilities to raise money for charity is also worth notice.

The national recognition honors students, faculty, staff and administrators. Congratulations are overdue.
