Among the far-reaching effects of sequestration could be shrinking budgets for public education, and the Norman Board of Education is set to discuss the numbers Monday evening at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers.

Norman Public Schools Chief Financial Officer Brenda Burkett will present her projections of how sequestration will negatively impact the district’s budget through its adverse effect on county tax revenue.

Additionally, the board will hear the district technology plan for 2013-2016, with an update on the progress of the previous technology plan.

A lengthy awards ceremony will begin the meeting, as 49 students and student athletes are slated to receive honors for high achievement in academics or sporting excellence.

The district’s five finalists for Norman Teacher of the Year will also be honored.

Lastly, an executive session is expected for the board to discuss the re-employment of the entire administrative staff and all site Principals and Assistant Principals.
