NORMAN — From 6 to 9 a.m. Friday, Irving Middle School will host a benefit pancake breakfast and silent auction for Kathy Vanderburg.
Vanderburg taught girls basketball at Irving Middle School alongside her husband, DeWayne Vanderburg, who is a head coach of basketball and girls’ fast pitch softball. Their daughter, Amy Vanderburg, is a cheer coach at Irving. Vanderburg is battling cancer. Proceeds from the pancake breakfast will help the family pay for medical expenses.
Tickets to the event may be purchased in advance for $5 from Irving faculty. Donations may be sent to Irving Middle School, c/o Kathy Vanderburg Fund, 125 Vicksburg Ave.
