Madison Elementary turns 60 years old

NORMAN — Next week, Madison Elementary School, 500 James Drive, will remember 60 years of education with a weeklong celebration featuring a spirit week, fun run and dance.

The celebration will begin with Backwards Day on Monday. Dress-up days will continue with the following: Pajama Day, Tuesday; Dress Your Best Day, Wednesday; Super Hero/Disney Character Day, Thursday; and Madison Spirit Day, May 2.

On May 2, students can run in a jog-a-thon. All proceeds will help the PTA purchase a digital marquee to place in front of the school. The PTA also is accepting donations.

Madison Elementary’s birthday bash will conclude with an evening of music provided by a live DJ, dancing and cake on May 2. The dance will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the school gym. Attendees will dress up in clothing reflective of their favorite decade from the past 60 years.

Madison Elementary alumni are invited to attend the dance. For more information, call 366-5910.
