District school board approves raise in pay for Norman teachers

NORMAN — Norman School Board members approved a 2013-2014 negotiated agreement that provides for an enrichment of $216 on each step on the compensation schedule for teachers at a regular meeting Monday evening.

Such a compensation schedule will equate to an average raise per teacher of 2 percent — ranging from 1 to 4 percent depending on the salary schedule a teacher is on.

Additionally, the Norman School Board adopted raiseses for principals, support personnel and off-scale employees that will average a 2 percent increase.

The superintendent’s 2013-2014 contract was not amended and remains the same as that of the previous school year.

All other items on the school board agenda were approved, including revisions to board of education policies on communication with media, enrollment of students by someone other than a legal guardian and illegal use of tabacoo products on school property.
