School to host blood drive

NORMAN — Little Axe High School is starting off the new year by saving lives through blood donation with Oklahoma Blood Institute.

All healthy adults, 16 and older, are encouraged to donate blood from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Note that 16-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission; 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds; and 18-year-olds or older must weigh at least 110 pounds.

Donors will receive T-shirts, health screenings and Donor Rewards points, redeemable for items in OBI’s online store. Additionally, if blood donors forgo T-shirts, funds designated for this item will support the Global Blood Fund assisting blood centers in developing countries.

Donations can be made every 56 days. Appointments are not required but can be made by calling 877-340-8777 or visiting obi.org.
