Author of ‘Healing the Addicted Brain’ to speak at Parents Helping Parents meeting

NORMAN — Harold C. Urschel, III, MD, a nationally recognized addiction psychiatrist and New York Times best-selling author of “Healing the Addicted Brain,” will be speak at the Norman Chapter of Parents Helping Parents at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Education Center at Norman Regional Hospital, 901 N. Porter Ave.

Urschel’s approach to treating addiction was his impetus in creating Enterhealth LLC, an addiction disease management company for which he serves as the chief medical strategist.

Enterhealth’s residential facility is in Van Alstyne, Texas, where he and his clinical team implement advanced science-based treatment protocols and incorporate pharmacotherapy into client-centered treatment plans that address the psychological, spiritual and relational aspects of addiction.

Urschel also is founder of Enterhealth Outpatient Center of Excellence, based in Dallas. The primary goal of both facilities is to combine the best behavioral treatment methods with the latest scientifically proven medicines to maximize each patient’s chances of a successful recovery from addiction.

Urschel’s presentation will address the latest findings from brain science research and addiction treatment toward the goals of helping addicts control cravings and reducing physical injury to the brain.
