Academy of Music Norman
special to pop
Even though the December Rock Clinic Concert endured a few set backs due to the ice storm, it went off without a hitch! The concert was originally scheduled to be held at the Opolis but,?due to the weather the Opolis was without electricity the week leading up to the concert. The Rock Clinic Concert was moved to the?new dance studio at Academy of Music Norman and was an incredible success. All 16 bands played their very best and showed off their amazing talents.?Veteran Rock Clinic bands Axis Power Trio, Eclipse, Just The Opposite and Star 6 Seven were among the performers. There were also new bands like Plan B, which includes Jake Hooper, John Archiniaco and 2 members of Norman band "Refuje", Jay Harp and?Troy Cheshier.?The youngest band to ever be a part of the program is?The Thunderheads. The Thunderheads?consists of drummer?Aaron Agrawal,? guitarist Logan Shroyer, brothers Collin and Corbin Leonard on guitar?and, the only girl in the band?singer Desi Stephens.?All members range in ages 8-11 years of age, and they performed?2 classics, "Sunshine of Your Love", and "Smoke on the Water."
Academy of Music instructor and 115 Recording?engineer Wes Sharon, recorded the entire concert for the bands. "The change of Venue posed some adjustments to the way we would set up the live recording. But, after all was said and done it ended up being a great change and the bands will be happy with the final product." said Wes Sharon. Each band member will receive a CD with their bands live concert performance recorded on the disc. The CD's will be mixed and mastered by Wes Sharon at 115 Recording,?and?will be ready and available just in time to be the perfect Christmas gift. New sessions of Rock Clinic will begin in January 2008,and?115 Recording still has available openings for Christmas packages.
