Marcus Weatherall, who is originally from Norman, recently participated in Match Day at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Match Day signifies the end of four years of medical school and the beginning of a student's career as a physician.
Weatherall was matched with the emergency medicine program at UT Southwestern -- his first choice.
"Nobody has more resources than we do," said Weatherall, who interviewed at several emergency medicine programs, and taught ninth and 12th grade English at Denton High School before entering medical school.
Match Day means the realization of his dream.
"You're becoming an expert in something for the purpose of helping someone else out," he said. "I'll still get to teach, now to patients and medical students."
