— Among Friends
Among Friends Activity Center has received a contribution from the Norman Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Campaign and the Wal-Mart Foundation for $1,500.?These funds will help provide a safe place for adults with special needs and disabilities for fun, learning and friendships.
The Among Friends Activity Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Services Building, 1183 East Main St.

Distinguished Toastmasters
Distinguished Toastmasters recently named officers for the 2008-2009 year.
Officers are Shane Cole, president; Michael Hubler, vice president for membership; Agi Lurtz, vice president for education; Kyla McMoran, vice president for public relations; Roger Hornsby, treasurer; Carol Cole-Frowe, secretary; Diana Morgan, sergeant-at-arms; and Matt Branstetter, assignor and past president.
Leadership Oklahoma
The Leadership Oklahoma Board of Directors recently elected Mary M?lon, president and publisher of The Journal Record, in Oklahoma City, to be chair of organization's 2008-2009 board of directors.
Leadership Oklahoma is entering its 22nd year as a statewide leadership development program designed to identify, teach and challenge the leaders of Oklahoma.
Jack Herron and Jim McAuley, both of Norman, and Charles Sherman of Purcell were elected to the board of directors.
Rainey Powell, and Tim Rasnic, both of Norman and Pat Martin, Purcell, were elected to the advisory board.
Free arthritis lecture
The Arthritis Foundation, Oklahoma Chapter will present a free education program 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, 242 24th Ave. NW.
Amy Shultz, M.D., a rheumatologist from McBride Clinic will provide an overview of arthritis, then discuss and answer questions about arthritis symptoms, pain management and treatments. The lecture is free; however, seating is limited. Light refreshments will be served and door prizes will be given away.
