Rieger will speak at Galaxy meeting

Andy Rieger, general manager of The Norman Transcript will speak on how newspapers have changed in the last 30 years, at the Norman Galaxy of Writers meeting, 10 a.m. Saturday in Room AB at the Norman Public Library.
Rieger will speak on freelancing for newspapers, the technical changes in the newspaper business and the future, not only of newspapers, but of writing and submitting.
Rieger holds bachelor's and master's degrees from OU. He has worked as a reporter, editor and co-publisher on Oklahoma newspapers for the past 30 years. He served on the faculty of the OU College of Journalism where he was an assistant professor and faculty adviser to the student newspaper. He is an adjunct professor at OU, teaching a senior-level community journalism course.
He also is chairman of the advisory committee of the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation. He and his wife, Karen, an attorney, have three musical children -- one is out of college and two are in. He enjoys cycling and sailing.
He is a member of the Norman Rotary Club, the Norman Business Association and is past president of the Norman Chamber of Commerce and United Way campaign chairman.
Galaxy will have a potluck summer picnic after the talk.
