Journey Church, east side, helped moved furniture and rooms during the 106-degree weather and no air conditioning. A thank you also goes to Northeast Baptist Church for fulfilling teachers' wish lists.
Mrs. Lansford's second grade class received a karaoke machine to use as a reading center from Donor's Choose. They'll be singing their way to improved fluency and decoding.
Truman
Parents' Night will be Thursday. Parents who are unable to attend may check with their child's teacher for information and classroom procedures.
New teachers include Amy Carruth, Sari Coggburn, Mekele DeNegri, Laurie Patrick, Kelly O'Brien, Lindsey Burkitt, Staci Vest, Hillery Bruner and Debbie Kelleher.
Librarian Tiffany Wylie is meeting with each class for an orientation of the Media Center. Students will learn about the variety of books, research materials and computers.
Counselors Erin Hassen and Karis Barnett will visit classes to present a variety of lessons from friendship and bullying to being responsible students.
Jefferson
Parents are invited to pre-K and kindergarten curriculum night Tuesday. First and second grade parents are invited to their curriculum night Thursday. Information will be coming home from each child for exact times. This is a time to learn about what each child will learn this year as well as classroom routines and procedures -- the things every parent needs to know.
Friday, students will take their individual pictures. Information packets will be in the Thursday folder.
There will be no school Sept. 7 because of Labor Day.
