Truman
Thanks to the Truman PTA for the teacher's breakfast during teacher work week and for the family breakfast they presented for new Truman families. Truman teachers were happy to see everyone who came to "Parent Night" Aug. 28.?Teachers presented their curriculum, rules and other classroom information for the school year.?Parents who were unable to attend should call their child's teacher.
Welcome staff members: Principal Kristie Eselin (vice-principal last year); Vice- Principal Robye Jackson; Andrea Kramer, secretary; Erin Hassen, counselor;?Paula Cook, resource;?Jennifer Sparks, kindergarten; Susan Young and Emily Drewry, third grade; Kristi Pate, fourth grade; Ray Anders and Sara Harris, fifth grade; and Sharon Wayne, music.
Parents who would like to volunteer in the school media center should see Librarian Tiffany Wylie or Assistant Librarian Shari Kear.
Each year, fifth grade students are eligible to join the Truman "Safety Patrol." These fifth-graders assist students in the hallways between classes each morning and afternoon.?The patrol is instructed by physical education teachers Kimberly Barr, Mary Anne Tullius and Sonny Fexxico.?Students this nine weeks are Matthew Welborn, Duncan Merchan-Breuer, Shelby Davis, Silvia Kraft, Noah Ratcliffe, Jacob Brewer, Hanah Gass, Morgan Dragg, Jacob Neighbors, Madi Marr, Colson Berryhill, Skylar Horn, Cole Elliott, Jessico Yao and Kailie Green.
Truman will be hosting its fourth annual "Jog-A-Thon" Sept. 19.?The fundraiser not only promotes fitness but also raises money for the school. Students will jog or walk as many laps as they can in 20 minutes on a marked track.?

Lincoln
The PTA will have its first meeting of the year 6 p.m. Monday in the library. Parents of children new to Lincoln are welcome to become involved in school events and projects.?It's also a time to meet new people and to find out more about Lincoln.
Grandparents and other special friends were welcomed to Lincoln Friday. These guests enjoyed the all-school assembly, followed by visits to the children's classrooms to meet teachers and learn more about the class.?
McKinley
Monday: "Welcome Back Picnic" 6 to 7:30 p.m. Rain location will be the cafeteria.?All McKinley families are invited to the annual picnic/cookout on the playground. PTA will provide the grilled hot dogs and drinks. Participants should bring a dessert or side dish to share and something to sit on.
Tuesday: First grade classic readers 2:45 to 3:30 p.m.; Girl Scout recruitment 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Wednesday:?Picture day.
Thursday: SEES (Sooner Elementary Engineering and Science) 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. in the gym for kindergarten through fifth-graders. Prior enrollment is required with Ms. Grady. Also, preschool and pre-kindergarten curriculum night will be 6:30 p.m. in the library.
Cleveland
Students have been given their "Jog-A-Thon" packets to collect money for this year's event. To be a T-shirt sponsor for the event, e-mail PTA President Ronda Smicklas at rksmick1@yahoo.com. School pictures will be taken Wednesday.?Send money form to your child's teacher.?
Friday, students in first grade will get a visit from the folks at the Second Chance Animal Sanctuary.?
Don't forget to look for your child's Thursday folder, sign it and return it to school each Friday.
Special thanks to the staff who helped make the fifth grade Camp Goddard trip fun.

Monroe
Monroe is celebrating the 2008 Olympics by holding their own competitions during physical education class time. The event will include everything from disc throwing, relay running and synchronized swimming. A wide range of countries will be represented.
Grandparent Day was a huge success and staff would like to thank the relatives who came to the special Good Morning Monroe to celebrate.
Tuesday will be "Not the Average Curriculum Night." Dinner will be served free of charge 5:30-6:30 p.m. Following dinner, there will be a "Good Evening Monroe" and PTA meeting 6:30-7 p.m. Activities will be held in the classrooms 7-7:30 p.m.
The Jog-A-Thon is scheduled for Sept. 26. Watch for the packets to be coming home soon.
