Standing on the corner of Jenkins and Lindsey streets on home football games a converted classic 1953 Airstream travel trailer dishing out traditional tailgate food served up by the Sooner Lions Club.
"We converted the trailer back in 1975 to be a fast food fundraiser," said Hank Strategier, trailer chairman, "and it has been a huge success and I might add a lot of fun for our club."
The Lions manning the silver bullet serve Bratwurst bathed in beer with kraut, hot dogs with chili and cheese or plain barbecue beef sandwiches, nachos, drinks and deep fried State Fair corndogs.
"It is tailgating done right," Strategier said.
"We have customers that come back to see us every game because not only is the food good they like giving to a good cause," he said. "All of the money we raise with the trailer goes to various charities, many of which are related to improving and protecting the eyesight of people locally and world wide."
President James Tittle agrees with Strategier.
"We like to think we took an old eyesore and turned it into it into a place that helps heal sore eyes," said Tittle. "The club's motto is we serve and I feel that we serve up the best darn fundraising tailgating fixings around."
