NORMAN — AAA Oklahoma is calling for nominations for its third annual Oklahoma Adult School Crossing Guard and AAA School Safety Patroler of the Year awards.

“Crossing guards and Safety Patrolers are there day in and day out to ensure our kids get to and from school safely,” said Chuck Mai, AAA Oklahoma spokesman. “As a safety advocate, AAA is proud to show our appreciation for their efforts and dedication.”

AAA invites students, parents, school administrators, faculty, staff and residents to nominate candidates whom they believe deserve to be recognized. Self-nominations also will be accepted. The deadline to submit nominations is April 1.

AAA’s traffic safety experts will evaluate nominations to select finalists for the award based on dedication, friendliness, professionalism and safety.

AAA will honor nominees who demonstrate the best example of the procedures and responsibilities outlined in AAA’s Handbook for Adult Crossing Guards and the AAA Safety Patrol handbook. Winners will be announced in May and each will receive a recognition plaque and congratulations from the communities they serve.
