NORMAN — American Legion Auxiliary Department of Oklahoma First Vice President Debra Densmore and members of Wagoner-Tremble Bethany-Warr Acres Unit 12, Clarence L. Tinker Midwest City Unit 170 and Pledger-Allen-Phillips Unit 88 in Norman donated their time, effort and supplies to assist the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs and other nonprofit organizations at the Stand Down for Homeless Veterans from Oct. 17-19 at the Homeless Alliance, 1729 NW 3rd in Oklahoma City.
Together, Units 12, 170 and 88 united in the effort. They solicited and received donations in excess of $1,500. Items provided included new socks, T-shirts and underwear, soap, deodorant and toiletries, gently worn items of clothing and warm winter coats.
A large part of the items collected by Unit 88 in Norman were donated by a member’s Sunday school class and another member’s church. Others were received from auxiliary units and/or purchased with funds raised by the units.
