NORMAN — After several practice sessions, groups from Cleveland, Oklahoma and Custer counties competed Saturday at the 4-H Food Showdown.
This event is based off The Food Network’s “Chopped” series, where teams are given four secret ingredients and 40 minutes to create an entrée. At the competition, the secret ingredients included eggs, bread, milk and avocados.
Cleveland County had two junior teams. The first team consisted of Meshelle Hamilton, Jordan Stevens and Savannah Mills, all of Norman. The second team was Noelle Shrabel, Hannah Shrabel and Matthew Lewis, all from Lexington. Oklahoma County brought a junior team consisting of Cara Feuerborn, Audrey Estes and Sara Metzger.
Cleveland County brought one senior team consisting of Faith Shrabel and Rachel Lewis, both of Lexington. Katelynn Howenstine, Hannah Howenstine and Annabell Moreno came from Custer County to compete. For Oklahoma County, Hannah Feuerborn, Allizon Metzger and Madeliene Seather competed.
Some teams made scrambled eggs with avocado toast; others made soup with French toast. Others made a fried egg with avocado sandwich.
