County DAV seeks volunteer drivers

NORMAN — The Cleveland County Chapter No. 61 of the Disabled American Veterans needs volunteers to drive residents to medical appointments at the Veterans Oklahoma City Medical Hospital.

Volunteers must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and be insurable. Volunteers can drive the van two days a week or one day a month. There is no service on weekends or holidays.

Interested residents can email Clint Horne at ClintHorne@sbcglobal.net or call 790-0397.

Transportation service in the county is paid by Chapter 61 through various fundraising activities and donations. The group is selling raffle tickets at the local gun shows for a Russian Cossack rifle that recently was donated to the chapter.

The chapter will host the 11th annual Car Show on May 24 at the Veterans Center, 1776 Robinson St.

The Cleveland County Chapter No. 61 of the DAV has monthly meetings at the Veterans Center, conference room B249.
