NORMAN — Five Oklahoma single parents and two adult children of single parents will be honored with awards at the Single Parent Support Network black tie fundraiser, “An Enchanted Evening,” on April 29 at the Jim Thorpe Museum and Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame, 4040 Lincoln Blvd.
The event, from 6 to 9 p.m., will feature music by Kyle Dillingham and a keynote address by Chesapeake Energy CEO and Legacy Award recipient Doug Lawler.
Joining him to receive Legacy awards are Jane Jayroe, former Miss America and TV news anchor; retired Major Gen. Rita Aragon, Oklahoma secretary of military and veterans affairs; and Brad and Keri Little, co-owners of Hey Day Entertainment.
The first recipients of the Eagle Award are Sharron Jackson-Glover, business coach and president of the Black Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Steve Ramirez, Variety Care chief medical officer.
Winners are outstanding Oklahomans who are currently or have been single parents (for a Legacy Award) and adult children of single parents (for an Eagle Award).
The Single Parent Support Network, formally organized in 2010, provides support group, life coaching, resources, educational and support services for single parent families.
