NORMAN — Recent wildfires devastated many areas around Cleveland County and left countless residents homeless. One of the many culprits blamed for carrying these wildfires is the volatile Eastern Red Cedar.
The Cleveland County OSU Extension office has a workshop planned to show the effects of herbicide treatment to kill invasive Eastern Red Cedar in the area. Mike Johnson of DuPont will be the guest speaker.
The Eastern Red Cedar Control Workshop will be 1 p.m. Oct. 16, east of Lexington. Directions are as follows: seven miles east of downtown Lexington on Highway 39. Immediate right (south) one mile on 156th Street, just after the Lexington Correctional Facility. Look for a gate and white “Velpar” signs at intersection of Lewis Road and 156th.
For more information, contact the OSU Extension office at 321-4774.
