Christmas in the Heart

NORMAN — The thoughts we have at Christmastime,

Range far and wide,

From gifts to buy and cards to write,

And oohs and aahs,

And sighs at night,

From lights to see and Christmas trees,

And the work we have to do,

And all the time we take in these,

To see our Christmas through;

But in the midst of all of this,

We need to stop and listen close,

To what our heart has to say,

About what matters most;

The laughter of a child,

The delight on his face,

An old person who is lonely,

And the time that we take,

A kind word to a stranger,

An encouraging word to a friend,

A willingness to listen,

To our family without end,

For Christmas in the heart,

Surely will begin,

When each one of us chooses,

To let the Christ Child in.
