Library sets free computer classes

NORMAN — The Norman Public Library has announced its schedule of free computer classes for February.

Classes take place in the Computer Training Center of the library, 225 N. Webster Ave.

Computer instruction is intended for beginners. Each class consists of verbal and visual instruction and includes guided practice through various activities.

Registration is requested separately for each class and may be completed by calling 701-2697 or online at


The February schedule includes:

Computer Software Classes

Introduction to Microsoft Excel, part 2 — 10 a.m. to noon Saturday

Basic Word Processing using Microsoft Word, part 1 — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday

Cut, Copy and Paste using Microsoft Word, part 2 — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday

Shortcuts and Drawing Tools using Microsoft Word, part 3 — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday

Page Setup at Tables using Microsoft Word, part 4 — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday

Introduction to Microsoft Excel, part 3 — 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 16

Microsoft PowerPoint — 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 18

Microsoft Publisher — 1-3 p.m. Feb. 19

Introduction to Microsoft Excel, part 4 — 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 23

Internet Based and Informational Classes

Email Basics — 1 to 3 p.m. today

Finding Your Civil War Era Ancestors — 2:20 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday

Facebook for Beginners — 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday

Internet I — 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 15

Planning for Travel Online — 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 15

Learning about Computer Security — 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15

Blogging for Beginners — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 20

What’s Twitter? — 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 21

Pinterest — 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 22
