NORMAN — Norman Addiction Information & Counseling (NAIC) is sponsoring a workshop on “Counseling for the Grieving and Bereaved” from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Friday at 215 W. Linn St.
Participants will learn to understand the grief and its stages from a counseling perspective and develop skills for helping clients work through the stages of grief and the tasks of mourning.
The trainer is Shirley Beckenhauer, a licensed alcohol and drug counselor with NAIC.
“Grief is sometimes the reason that clients seek treatment, and they do not always recognize that un-grieved or partially grieved losses are contributing to the issues that trouble their lives,” Beckenhauer said.
Registration is $55.
Three continuing education units are approved for licensed alcohol drug counselors, licensed clinical social workers, certified alcohol and drug counselors, certified prevention specialists and pending for licensed professional counselors and licensed marriage and family therapists.
For more information, email Susan Bennett at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 321-0022. A downloadable registration form is available on NAIC’s website, www.naichelp.org.
