Gingerbread house competition hosted

NORMAN — Aging Services Inc. is making plans for the fifth annual Gingerbread House Competition and Silent Auction.

The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Moore Public Library, 225 S. Howard Ave.

The event is hosted in partnership with the Moore Public Library’s Holiday Gala.

The public is welcome to submit a gingerbread house for the competition.

Houses can be returned to the maker or included in the silent auction to benefit Aging Services Inc.

Funds raised will go toward Aging Services Inc. programs and services.

There will be six categories of gingerbread houses: professional, corporate, family, kit, adult and teen.

Prizes will be awarded to the winner in each category; there will be a special prize for the best of show.

Entries must not exceed 18 inches in height and must be on a base that does not exceed 18 inches x 18 inches.

Entries do not have to be a typical house; entries can be realistic, imaginary, lifelike or fantastical.

All entries must be made completely of gingerbread and other edible materials (not limited to sweets).

Candies or food items must be unwrapped.

No artificial materials are allowed.

This includes plastic, styrofoam and/or wood (with the exception of the baseboard), no toothpicks and sticks.

Individuals who would like to make a gingerbread house for the event can call Kathleen Wilson at 321-3200.

The entry form is available on the ASI website at ASI-CLEV-CO.org or at the city of Moore website.
