Call for volunteers

NORMAN — McCortney Family Hospice is seeking volunteers to visit patients and help with nursing home activities in the greater Norman area.

Hospice volunteering takes one hour a week and can be done on a flexible schedule that fits each person’s needs.

Volunteers typically visit individual patients, conduct nursing home activities or sit with patients in their homes to allow caregivers to take a break.

“McCortney patients and their families benefit tremendously from the friendly visits and other services provided by our volunteers,” said Staci Hensley, McCortney volunteer coordinator. “As one volunteer says, ‘When you volunteer with hospice, your soul will feel enriched. You will know that you’ve made a difference in the time you are there.’”

Training classes are scheduled regularly. More information is available by calling 360-2400.
