Court of Honor scheduled today for 7 area Eagle Scouts

NORMAN — The Court of Honor for seven area Eagle Scouts will be 2 p.m. today at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Scouts include Zachary Ryan Burkett, Creighton Miles De Kalb, Benjamin JM Hsu, Evan Michael Hensley, Sean Michael LaChance, Alexander Evan Dihrberg and Tyler Glen Brown.

Burkett will graduate in May from Norman High School. He plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in civil engineering.

He has earned 31 merit badges and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He also earned the Arrow of Light, Brotherhood, Historic Trails, 50-mile Canoe, BSA Kayaking and Polar Bear awards. He has 75 service hours.

Burkett has served his troop as senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, quartermaster, troop guide, grubmaster, chaplain aide, historian and librarian.

He has attended Slippery Falls Scout Ranch, Trappers, Northern Tier High Adventure Expedition, Current River float trips, Scout-O-Rama, Diamond H and the Centennial National Jamboree. He has 98 camp nights.

His Eagle service project involved planning, supervising and helping with the placement of solar-powered light posts placed along the road leading to the summer camp for residents at the J.D. McCarty Center in Norman.

Burkett is the son of Tom Burkett and Brenda Burkett.

De Kalb is a sophomore at Norman North High School.

He has earned 33 merit badges and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He also earned the Arrow of Light, BSA Kayaking and Polar Bear awards. He has 65 service hours.

De Kalb has served his troop as senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, librarian, chaplain aide, grubmaster and historian.

He has attended Slippery Falls Scout Ranch, Diamond H, Trappers, Current River float trip and the Centennial National Jamboree. He also is slated to be the crew leader for the Troop’s 2013 Philmont trek. He has 68 camp nights.
