NORMAN — April 27 marks the beginning of registration for free Safety Town classes at Sooner Mall. Safety Town teaches children ages 5 and 6 years old the importance of bicycle, fire and personal safety. Classes are 50 minutes in length.
Safety Town classes are conducted on the northeast corner of the mall parking lot. Classes are conducted by the Norman Police Department and include visiting instructors from the Norman Fire Department and EMStat.
Each Safety Town session consists of three classes offered at 9 a.m., 10:10 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Class sessions run June 3-7, June 10-14, June 17-21 and June 24-28. Evening classes are held the weeks of June 3 and June 17, beginning at 6.
The first day of registration will be from 10 a.m. to noon April 27 north of the Children’s Play Area. To participate, children must be 5 years old no later than Sept. 1 and cannot turn 7 before July 1.
After April 27, individuals may register by phone or in person by calling the Sooner Mall management office, 360-0360.
