NORMAN — When Emporia State University’s summer theatre opens the third show of its 59th season on Wednesday, Samaria Fleig of Norman, will be involved in the production of Tom Smith’s “Drinking Habits.”
“Drinking Habits” is the story of two nuns, Sister Philamena and Sister Augusta of the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing, who have kept the doors to their convent open by making, bottling and selling wine. When two reporters, (and former lovers) Paul and Sally go undercover as a nun and priest, their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, Sister Mary Catherine, spurs paranoia throughout the convent.
Afraid of being shut down, wine and secrets are spilled in an attempt to preserve the convent. Efforts of the leaders of the convent, Mother Superior and Father Chenille, to sort out the slamming doors, a magician’s trunk, cases of wine and mysterious visitors from Rome only add to the confusion and the laughs.
Fleig plays Mother Superior.
