Veterans to receive support from DAR, other Oklahoma nonprofits

NORMAN — Plans are under way for the Red, White and Blue Classic Golf Tournament on Sept. 30 at the Greens Country Club, 13100 Green Valley Drive in Oklahoma City.

The event is almost full with participants, but sponsorship packages still are available.

Guest Maj. General Rita Aragon, USAF (ret.) Oklahoma Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and Maj. Ed Pulido, U.S. Army (ret.) senior vice president of Military Affairs for Folds of Honor Foundation and founder of the Warriors for Freedom Foundation, will present the Patriot Golf Day Event.

One of the organizations that will benefit from this is Daughters of the American Revolution, a lineage based non-political women’s service organization that promotes historic preservation, education and patriotism.

Monies will go to the State Regent’s Project, the Veterans First Fund, a project designed to serve as a bridge between medical needs and unfunded critical needs of Oklahoma veterans.

The Red, White & Blue Classic registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a lunch, and a shotgun start beginning at 1:15 p.m. The event will offer silent auction items and autographed memorabilia with a buffet and cocktails for players and guests starting at 6 p.m.

For corporate sponsorship or more information, call Major Ed Pulido 833-9092, Brett Dick, 315-8727, or visit
