NORMAN — The Citizens Advisory Board of Cleveland County (CAB) will once again host its annual Coaches Luncheon, featuring Sooner football coach Bob Stoops and members of his coaching staff, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 31 at Journey Church, 3801 Journey Parkway.

A live auction and raffle will be included in the luncheon. Proceeds from the luncheon will directly support the programming of CAB throughout the year, with a particular focus given to Secret Santa.

CAB raises money for emergency food, clothing, medications and provides yearlong support for children in foster and biologically related families. Efforts help provide normalcy and stability for the 550 to 700 children in the custody of, or receiving preventive services, within the Cleveland County Child Welfare Unit of DHS.

CAB is a 100 percent volunteer board, with no staff, ensuring that donations reach the children.

CAB was developed and implemented in 1989 with one specific goal: fulfill the Christmas wish lists of children in out-of-home care in Cleveland County.

The program received support from the community and the wish lists of 69 children were filled that year. Today, the program still fully relies on the community for support.

Throughout the past year, CAB board members spent $93,681.39 on “special needs” like emergency clothing and prescriptions for children, school supplies and uniforms for music, dance and athletic programs. The group provided 14 Christmas dinners for foster families and Christmas gifts for 537 children.

“We are proud to live in a community that believes in helping kids be kids. The critical funds we raise at the Coaches Luncheon help us host events throughout the year that make children’s lives better,” said Autumn McMahon, CAB chair. “Like our sibling event that helps family members who have been separated spend time together; or our ability to provide uniforms, holiday presents, club fees, a modest graduation gift and a host of other things that help bring ‘normalcy’ to a child’s life.

“Coach Stoops’ willingness to donate his time and resources to entertain us with a preview of the upcoming Sooner football season is the epitome of what it means to be ‘Oklahoma strong.’”

Sponsorship opportunities for the lunch include:

· $700 Touchdown Sponsorship — One reserved table (10 tickets) to the luncheon, a quarter-page ad in the luncheon program and a mention in the “thank you” ad as a corporate donor.

· $425 Field Goal Sponsorship — Five tickets to the luncheon, a logo-size ad in the luncheon program and a mention in the “thank you” ad as a corporate sponsor.
