NORMAN — Story time

Norman Public Library West invites children and families to its weekly Story Time, at 10 a.m. Tuesdays in the Children’s Area of the new library, 300 Norman Center Court.

The story time is taking the place of the library’s Sooner Mall Story Time. Story Times are planned each Tuesday for the remainder of the year except for Christmas Eve, when the library will be closed. Registration is not required to attend.

Stress-free holidays

The Norman Public Library is promoting “Happier, Healthier Holidays” at 6 p.m. Monday in Rooms A and B of the library, 225 N. Webster Ave.

Lane Winters, a certified health coach, will provide tips and advice for keeping stress down during the holiday season. She will share recipes for healthier holiday foods and also share several homemade gift ideas.

Winters, a student at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, works from a holistic viewpoint, helping clients reach their goals through individual and group counseling sessions.

The free program is for ages 18 and up. Space is limited, so registration is required.

Tax planning

Get ahead in plans for the upcoming tax season with a Year-End Tax Planning program, presented by the Norman Public Library at 9 a.m. Dec. 6 in the Multipurpose Room at Norman City Hall, 201 W. Gray St.

Sean Hugo, certified public accountant, will lead the workshop. He will focus on a variety of topics, beginning with new guidelines for filing 2013 tax returns and matters relevant to expense/income deferral or acceleration.

Other subjects to be covered include issues of owner compensation and benefit plan contributions and new federal and state legislation impacting 2013 tax issues, including the federal health care legislation and Small Business Jobs Act.

The free workshop is co-sponsored by Moore Norman Technology Center, S.C.O.R.E. and the Pioneer Library System. Space is limited, so registration is required.
