Norman DAR chapter visits Veterans Corner

(Continued)

NORMAN —

New driver Greg Kelsch had an easy week transporting veterans. He had several veterans whose medical appointments were canceled by the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, which left him with only one veteran to bring to Goldsby. It was a different story for Clayton Lee, who drove 600 miles while transporting 10 veterans. Harold Martin drove 626 miles and transported 11 veterans to their VA medical appointments. Clayton Lee lives near the Dibble area and can be reached at 684-8860. Kelsh lives in the Newcastle area and can be reached at 255-2208. Martin lives in Norman and can be reached at 227-3239.

The benevolence fund was used to assist 10 veterans and surviving spouses with medical testing, gas cards, rent, utilities and other expenses last week. Treasurer Jerry Baxter said we spent $3,000 that was donated to us last week.

This last week, a Navy veterans from Lexington donated a 1998 Ford van to Veterans Corner. When a person makes this type of donation, they will receive a receipt that may be used on their income taxes. When we receive vehicles or handicapped items, we either give them to veterans or sell them and use the proceeds to support our programs.

Take time to visit veteranscorner.org. We are a 501(C)(3), where your donations should be tax deductible. Donations for the benevolence fund may be sent to Veterans Corner, P.O. Box 704, Washington, OK, 73093. Donations for the building fund may be sent to Veterans Corner, c/o Dale Graham, P.O. Box, 722160 Norman, OK 73070.
