NORMAN — The Leadership Norman class of 2013 is working with Thunderbird Clubhouse to build partnerships in the business community willing to offer internships, job opportunities and more. Their plan of action begins with a focus group being held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rivermont Retirement Community, 800 S. Canadian Trails.

“Adults in recovery from brain disorders such as depression, Bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, want the same things in their lives that others want: a job, friends, people that care about them and ways to contribute to their community,” said Pam Sanford, executive director of Thunderbird Clubhouse. “Our experience has been that participants at the clubhouse are some of the most reliable, eager and committed employees around. Employers that have partnered with us are rewarded with being a part of really changing lives by giving a clubhouse member more purpose and meaning in their life.”

Those interested in participating in the Leadership Norman 2013 Employment Focus Group, are asked to RSVP to April Doshier at 360-4954 extension 100 or adoshier@foodandshelterinc.org. Light refreshments will be provided.

“Our Leadership Norman class is dedicated to building a strong friendship between the business community and Thunderbird Clubhouse. This focus group is an opportunity for us to hear directly from our business leaders about how this relationship can grow,” said Doshier, member of the Leadership Norman class of 2013.
