NORMAN — The Houston-based Apache Foundation and the Tree Bank Foundation of Oklahoma are providing 500 Norman households with a free tree this fall.
The requested species are assorted oak, maple, juniper, holly, sycamore, crape myrtle and Redbud. They should come in three-gallon containers and are typically about one-inch caliper, depending on species. Each trees comes with a tree planing and watering guide.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday. To register, visit normanfun.com and click on Free Tree Giveaway. Tree distribution is planned for 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 18 at Reaves Park. Individuals must bring their request confirmation to pick up trees.
The program criteria requires that trees be distributed to Norman residents and not to commercial or rental properties. There is a limit of one tree per household — individuals must register to get a tree.
