NORMAN — No parking, please
Do not park on Brooks Street from Jenkins Avenue to Classen Boulevard on Saturday during the OU football game.
Although the area is normally posted as a no-parking zone, Norman police have allowed parking on the south side of Brooks during football games.
Because of the need to accommodate increasing traffic volume in the area on game days, parking will no longer be permited on this area of Brooks in the future.
Norman police also will post an officer at the intersection of Brooks and Classen for traffic control.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation began painting the underside of the State Highway 9 bridge over Classen Boulevard. The contractor will reduce northbound Classen Boulevard to one lane to repaint the underside of the bridge.
The contractor will paint over the outside lane and, when complete, move the operation to the inside lane. Work in the northbound lanes will take approximately one week. After completing the work over the northbound lanes, the contractor will shift the lane closure to the southbound lanes of Classen Boulevard to complete the process. All work should be completed within two weeks.
Service point delayed
Officials from the Pioneer Library System said there will be a delay in the delivery of the 24-hour library service machine.
Additional engineering required for updates to Envisionware’s U.S. model is responsible for the delay.
The delivery date is anticipated to be late January to mid-March.
Staff will continue working with the PLS on the delivery, set-up and grand opening of the service point location.
Construction started last week on the installation of an interior ramp at the Sooner Theatre.
The ramp will improve access to the seats for those who have trouble negotiating stairs, which is currently the only way to access the front portion of the theatre. Work will take approximately two weeks and will not interfere with the daily operations or rentals at the facility.
