Losses from uninsured


The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Norman Regional Health System, which includes three hospitals serving the Norman/Moore area as well as the south central part of Oklahoma, is impacted by the loss of millions of dollars annually because of uninsured patients.

So far, for FY 2013 from July 12 through April 13, the Health System has treated about 8,500 uninsured patients for a loss of $6.8 million. Losess for the previous five years in rounded numbers are:

2008 — 27,500 unisured treated for a loss of $12.5 million

2009 — 29,500 unisured treated for a loss of $14.8 million

2010 — 27,000 unisured treated for a loss of $16.1 million

2011 — 28,000 unisured treated for a loss of $17.8 million

2012 — 27,000 unisured treated for a loss of $19 million
