NORMAN — Lane closure

Beginning Monday the outside southbound lane of 12th Avenue Southeast was closed between Triad Village Drive and Mockingbird Lane. Urban Contractors Inc. is performing contract sewer repairs for Norman Utilities.

Drivers may experience delays. Local access will be allowed to adjacent properties for residents only.

Work should be complete and the lane reopened by Friday. Signs will be placed by Midstate Traffic Control to assist the motoring public.

Questions or comments may be directed to project manager Charlie Thomas at 366-5443.

Constructing monument

Sen. John Sparks has joined a group of Oklahoma lawmakers in an effort to construct a monument to the Bill of Rights at the State Capitol.

Sparks said the monument would serve as a reminder of our inalienable rights.

“The liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights deserve to be given a place of prominence,” said Sparks, D-Norman. “As lawmakers, we must govern by constitutional principles, and this monument will serve as a powerful reminder of our guiding values.”
