City parks sprucing up

NORMAN — Colonial Estates Park

The path through Colonial Estates Park has been repaved. Bridges will be replaced along the disc golf course.

Crestland Park

Trees are being trimmed and undergrowth thinned at Crestland Park. The picnic table will be replaced and trees groomed along the park trail and additional play equipment installed.

John H. Saxon Jr. Park

Work is underway at Saxon Park to gravel the trails. The entry drive and parking lots will be under construction this fall and winter. Depending on the weather, the park could be officially open sometime after the first of the year.

Legacy Park

Work on the pond and the foundation for the stage continues. Brickwork for the entry walls at 24th Avenue are in place and the restroom and storage building framing is complete. The berms have been placed.

McGeorge Park

The new play equipment and padded safety surfacing have been installed. The area where the old equipment stood will be re-graded and have sod installed soon. New park furniture will be added as a final part of the park upgrade. This project has been funded through the CDBG Division neighborhood plan projects.
