NORMAN — Interstate lanes closing near Indian Hills Road

Beginning today, Wildcat Construction will temporarily close north and southbound lanes of Interstate 35 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next day. The lane closures will vary and may consist of multiple lanes. The work should be completed by Saturday.

Barkley Street closure

On Wednesday morning, Barkley Street — from Boyd to Brooks — will be limited to local traffic only to allow for contract sewer repairs.

Local access only will be allowed to adjacent properties for residents. Drivers are advised to select alternate routing. Signs will be placed by Midstate Traffic Control to assist the motoring public.

Weather permitting, work should be completed and Barkley Street reopened by Thursday.

Fall cleanup

Customers who have Tuesday polycart service can put items out for Fall Cleanup on Saturday. Items must be out by 7:30 a.m.

Yard waste is not collected as fall cleanup items. Other items not collected may include remodeling or demolition debris such as broken concrete, bricks, lumber, sheetrock, shingles or junk cars; or any hazardous waste such as tires, batteries, paints, refrigerators or any items with Freon, etc.

Any items containing Freon must have the Freon properly captured by a certified technician. Only with the proper tag identifying that the Freon has been removed will the items be accepted. Polycarts, wagons, wheelbarrows, etc., are not to be used as containers for cleanup items.

The Transfer Station at 3901 S. Chautauqua Ave., will be open and free on these Saturdays for any Norman sanitation customer. Take a current utility bill or have a driver’s license with a Norman address.
