NORMAN — The hotel/motel room tax increase from 4 percent to 5 percent won by a hefty margin in Tuesday’s city of Norman election.
Stephen Koranda, executive director of the Norman Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the tax increase will benefit everyone in the city.
The measure passed 8,397 votes to 2,462 votes against. The 4 percent rate had been in effect for 30 years.
Lexington also had a city election. David Adams defeated Marion McWhirter for the Ward 4 city council seat.
