Operations day set
Thousands of Amateur Radio Operators will be showing off their emergency capabilities this weekend. The South Canadian Amateur Radio Society will demonstrate Amateur Radio at Reaves Park on June 28-29, from 1 p.m. on Saturday to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The public will have a chance to meet and talk with members of the local amateur radio club, SCARS. Hams from across the USA and Canada will be holding public demonstrations and practicing emergency communications during this period, which is known as “Field Day.”
Signal work at Jenkins & Stinson
The City Traffic Control Division will be upgrading the traffic signal installation on Jenkins Avenue at the Stinson Street intersection on Monday.
After 9 a.m. the intersection may be temporarily controlled by flaggers. Full signal operation should be restored at the intersection by noon.
The work includes the replacement of one signal head, the modification of a second signal head, minor rewiring within the traffic signal controller cabinet, and the addition of a traffic control sign.
