NORMAN — Residents can bring household hazardous waste to Norman’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the southwest parking lot of the Lloyd Noble Center.
There is no charge to Norman residents. Residents need to enter from Jenkins or Chautauqua.
Last year, close to 1,400 cars disposed of waste material at the hazardous waste collection.
Items that cannot be accepted are radioactive waste, explosives, business generated waste, household trash and compressed gas or containers. Products need to be kept in their original containers, and chemicals should not be mixed.
Reusable household chemicals can be dropped off for redistribution to residents.
The city will give away free 5-gallon buckets of recycled white latex paint while supplies last.
Organizers are seeking volunteers. Some of the work assignments will include setting up, surveying participants, traffic control, unloading materials and bulking paint and oil.
For more information or to volunteer, call Norman’s Environmental Services at 292-9731.
