Heisman coming to Norman

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — In honor of the two most storied college football programs of all-time, with 12 Heisman Trophy winners between them, Bob Moore Nissan is bringing the Heisman to Norman.

The Heisman Trophy will be on display from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, according to a news release from Bob Moore Auto Group.

The dealer encourages everyone to “bring your kids, bring your camera and bring a big chest full of Sooner pride.” according to the release.

There’s basketball, too: The day before Oklahoma and Notre Dame meet at Owen Field, the Oklahoma women’s basketball program will play host to their Friday Night Tailgate.

Players will greet fans when the Lloyd Noble Center doors open at 5 p.m. At 6, a 90-minute scrimmage will begin, which will include an open mic’d head coach Sherri Coale, who will occasionally stop the action and explain what’s going on directly to the fans. Free T-shirts will be distributed to the first 500 through the door.

Admission is free.

Weekend weather: So, do you have your crimson and white cold-weather gear? You may want to pull it out of closet this weekend.

Here’s what to expect as of Tuesday’s forecasts from The Weather Channel’s weather.com.

On Thursday, as some out-of-towners start arriving in Norman, the forecast calls for a high of 65 and a low of 43, with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms.

On Friday, those setting up to tailgate can expect damp weather with a high of 57 and a low of 33.

On Game Day, the daytime high is expected to hover around 59 degrees. As the sun sets and kickoff arrives, temperatures are expected to start sliding toward an overnight low of 32.

Speaking of gear: Remember to match your duds to your ticket section. Fans in even-numbered sections are asked to wear crimson, while fans in odd-numbered sections are asked to wear white. Current OU students are asked to wear crimson.

Got tickets? As of Tuesday night, it appears there are 993 or so tickets for OU-Notre Dame on stubhub.com. The cheapest single game ticket available Tuesday was $271. The most expensive single ticket appeared to be upper level 231 at $2,500. Unless you count the $99,999 price for an upper-level seat in the extreme south east corner. The cheapest pair of tickets was $540 for the north end zone. On the high side, it looks like $5,000 per ticket for a pair in Lower level sideline 9, row 34, seats 5 and 6.
