NORMAN — Professor Ralph A. Wheeler, formerly of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma, has been named a Fellow of the American Chemical Society.
ACS Fellows are selected for their scientific research and service to the society and the profession.
Dr. Wheeler is one of 192 scientists from around the world named ACS Fellows during the second year of the program.
Wheeler currently is in his second month as chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, after a career of more than 20 years at OU.
There are 355 scientists from among 155,000 ACS members.
The most recent group of ACS Fellows was reported in the August 2010 issue of the trade magazine Chemical & Engineering News and will be honored Aug. 23 at the next American Chemical Society National Meeting in Boston, Mass.
